Anime Conji Day 1 OMG
This is the first time that Anime convention was held in San Diego so it was very interesting experience. Have learned from my experience from Pacific Media Expo, I have decided to take it easy and approaching this convention differently than I would do with Comic Con. For example, there is no need to show up early and you're free to have much fun as you want to, as long you don't cause any problems.
Have been to 5 Comic Cons and 1 Anime con before this con, I have to say this con has to be one of the best I've ever been to. I know some of you guys are like *gasping* by right now. You're probably thinking, dude, isn't Comic Con awesome? It's the freakin' Comic Con!!! I have to say that is true, Comic Con is uber awesome but for this scale of con, it's important to have friends to join you since the con itself is very lenient and provides lot of freedom for us to play. I liken this con as 'sandbox' where we can do whatever to our heart's content, while Comic Con is 'theme park' where you hold on for sweet rides.
For once, the security isn't being dick, which I'm grateful for. In fact, I only saw maybe handful of security guards but lot of anime fans were there to have fun and socializing. Hotel workers were very friendly and always willing to help us out whenever we need to, unlike Comic Con, which tends to block me from entering the panels, despite my disability pass.
Sorry for lengthy introduce but time for pictures and witty comments!
I suited up because I just want to. Moment before I picked up Eddie, a member from anime club that I'm part of.
Picking up cash from the bank. Before we hit up the highway.
The parking building was so incredibly tight that I somehow hit the bumper on my truck because of the damn beam. 6 years of trying not to damage my truck! That was so crazy.
Very long line for registration. My friend from anime club told me that he had to wait in line for 2 hours because they only have single computer that can process 1 reg at the time. I'm so lucky that I pre-registration so I can enter and pick up my badge with no problems.
OMG, it's Ulquiorra! Very cool cosplayer.
Thought I had lost my blackberry. I was searching for it all over the lobby until Eddie pointed out that I may have left it in my truck, which I did. What a relief, otherwise it would be so hard to keep communicating with my friends.
Pair of cute kids cosplayers. The con setup was very interesting because people now can sell their merchandises in their hotel rooms. I find it to be very surreal experience.
Entering the Dealers room. Scored the old school PS2 game for 10 bucks. Wish I could have get Guitar Hero set for 30 bucks but I lost that chance. Shame on me.
Me with Trina from anime club. Very cool girl.
Eddie's niece. I dig her cosplay costume very much. I was surprised to see her dress up like Vocaloid the next day I saw her.
Wow, I cannot believe that someone actually put this on their vehicle. Btw, it should be Bankai, not Bonkai, unless the driver was trying to be clever.
We're now in Old Town for lunch. Ugh, I cannot believe I spent up like 80 percent of my money on lunch and dinner in restaurants. To think I could have save the money by getting meal in Con Suite but my anime club insisted on going out.
So hungry!
Nothing like ice cold soda.
Hamburger and fries. In my later posts, you will see that I always order lot of hamburgers and fries. I'll defend that they're usually cheaper and present familiar sensation to me. Don't want to risk anything by sample the new foods that I never tried while I'm at con.
Good example of this is in earlier in the day, I enter the snack room and I grab the snack that contained wasabi. OMG, my mouth was on fire! I had to run out and drink lot of water. The saleswoman points out that I didn't read the label first before I grab the snack. Talk about self-pwned.
Yeah, I'm uber tight with this dude.
Is this curse? Should I even touch it?
Chilling in downtown with friends after meal.
Gundam models! I never got into Gundam models myself but they looks very cool.
In gaming room now. I will say this: this gaming room is one of the best gaming room I've been in. This room is air conditioned and very well vented and very spacy as hell compared to the other gaming rooms I've been at. In other gaming room, it's all dark and it felt like sauna room.
Watching my buddy play Street Fighter. I tried my best playing Street Fighter but I got my ass whoop by skinny geek dude. :( Not kewl.
Playing speed card game with Patrick. I'm so master of this card game. :D
Playing War card game. I run out of the cards earlier so I had to sit and watch them duke it out.
OMG it's Cammy White from Street Fighter!
Very sweet!
*whistling like a wolf*
Dungeons and Dragons time!
Uhh, who's that behind Sean?
OMG, it's the guy with rifle! Poor Sean. :(
Trying to build up our characters. This was bit tedious process so I goof around to keep myself stimulating. I'd rather do pre-generated characters and do level 1 dungeon. That stuff can keep us entertaining for few hours.
Kicking it back in pavilion.
OMG, it's Wendee Lee! The famous voice actor! She does voice for The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzuimiya and Cowboy Bebop. Gee, I sound very fanboy, don't I?
*about to have an heart attack*
OMG OMG OMG!
Juan convinced me to get her sign my Dungeons and Dragons character sheet so I run back to room to get it and get her to sign it. I was very starstruck. :D
Yup, severe case of starstruck!
I'm on cloud 9!
Bouncing between mattresses. Talk about huge leeway that this con gave us.
The battle of cameras! Snapshots all over the place!
Soooo heavy!
I definitely agree with that.
Trying to stay warm.
In rave. Very fun times.
I'm dancing!
Ordering burger and fries at Brian's. I pick the one where they put peanut butter on burger. Very tasty. :D
Hmm, very very very tasty!
It was very good start to anime con, which I was very happy about.
