SDCC '14 Day 1 (Shot calling)

This is me at 4 am. My sleeping schedule during SDCC looks like 1 to 4 am, which can be brutal. This is done so I can have time to prepping the meals and finalizing my schedule.

Parked at Hazard Center. It's easier this way because Fashion Valley Center can be so troublesome. So this place is less hassle.

Waiting for my daily 5:30 am trolley.

Let's go, SDCC!

6 am shift rulz, yo.

Texting the hottie right now.

"Mon Jay, what is that?"
"I have no idea."

So bright.

So busy.

Ran to Hasbro booth.

Even with 20 minutes head start, this line is still long.

Fortunately, Steve was in line so he allowed me to cut the line to stay with him. Huge help.

Waiting in line at Hasbro booth. Steve said that his friends are waiting in Mattel line. I asked him if his friends can pick up Doomsday figure for me. He said that his friends would do it. I told him that I will give the money to him immediately when I get the figure.

Was stuck in this line for 90 minutes. The horror, the horror. Had to cancelled my first panel.
I saw Jono in other line and it appears that he was able to get the stuff he want to get. He tried to give me the money to get another figure but Hasbro employee told us that it was against the rule. So I understood it. It's not fair to other people.

This is Magic Trading Card set and Jabba figure. So huge! It will be hell for me to carry it around at SDCC all day. I'm glad that I met up with Jono afterwards.

Jono now have 2 set of Magic Trading Card set. I tried to give his change back but he told me to keep it and use it for a meal. So nice of him.

Ugh, so crowded.

Super stunning cosplayer.

Time to hit up the 2nd floor.

This hall brought back a lot of memories for me.

So does Sails Pavilion.

Another fantastic cosplayer.

Heading to Gaslamp.

So crowded in downtown.

Pretty neat prop. They were still attaching it when I was there.

Nice advertisement. I tried to look for Nerd HQ but I ended up going wrong way so I chose to explore the parking lot, which had a lot of cool stuff.

Sin City exhibition. Very nice.

So nice to have bunch of offsite events at SDCC.

Walking on the bridge to hit up SDCC again.

Met up with Peter. He's super good guy.

Peter bought this figure for his buddy in Canada.

He sure love Spy vs Spy a lot.
During this time, I got a text from Steve whose told me that he got Doomsday figure from his buddy. So I told Peter to wait and I ran to Lobby B, which is no easy feat since Peter and I were above of Hall H.

Finally, I have Doomsday! My quest for SDCC is now over. It's time to have fun times.
Soon, Peter and I parted the way. We agreed to meet up again tomorrow.

I never tire of this sight.

Why yes, I will.

So colorful.

Met up with Hiike. We hung out for short time. But it was so good to see her again.

On my way to the panel, I saw this astronaut dude so I had to take the picture of him.

The room monitor told us that this panel was cancelled. It's first time in my SDCC career that the panel got cancelled on me. It's staggering and unreal. But I wasn't disappointed. Stuff happens so I chose to roll with the punches.

Epic group cosplay.

Gandalf!

Walking to Marriott hotel to chilling in anime room.

Then I ran into Stan and Lucy so I hung out with them.

Stan is cosplaying as Jesus. We're now inside Marriott perk room, which is basically lounge room but they will give us bunch of free stuff, which is super awesome.

Lucy on left, Emma on right. Those ladies are awesome.

Pretty nice lounge room.

This area is where you can get free t-shirt. Just tell the worker which design you want and they will screen print it for you.

Gaming area. I'm digging this lounge area a lot now.

I chose the one on the right. So I can write MGman on it, lol.

How can you say no to free t-shirt?

Chilling with cool people.

Emma being chill.

"Guys, what should we do?"

Oh..... they're giving us free USB. We can use this to recharge our phones. They also have free charger station, which is super nice.

"What madness is this?"

Emma with Rainbow Dash themed Ghostbusters pack.

Kicking it back with Jesus.

People are lining up for free pizza. God, I love this lounge room. But I had to leave because my panel start soon.

On my way to the panel.

Wow, this panel sure is full.

Whoa, they're giving us free manga? Man, I sure love this con so much.

Viz media panel. They're telling us what is up in world of manga and anime.

Fans are super excited.

After the panel, I walked back to Sails Pavilion. This room brought back a lot of memories for me.

Ran into Mercy. Got a selfie with her, which is awesome.

So crowded now. Heading to Making a living in manga panel now.

This panel did something the first time I've ever experience. The panelist is connected to American manga artist in Japan so he can talk to us. Very neat. Gotta love the technology.

The panelists are telling us about their experiences in manga world. Very fascinating stuff.

This is lost in translation manga. This panel is always enjoyable for me every year.

Fun fact: The original translated title for Attack on Titans was Attack of the Titans. I actually prefer the sound of Attack of the Titans a lot more.

Good grief! It's so crowded outside.

Veve is talking to older lady.

Hanging out with Heather. I had bit of a free time so we were chilling around and chatting. This is pretty awesome.

Nice props.

Veve and Heather are super awesome cosplayers.

I'm now in Dr. Horrible's screening. I saw this lady had huge hat in audience. So I had to take the picture of her.

This guy is rapping about Joss' stuff, mostly about Firefly. Always delightful.

Costume contest.

Dr. Horrible time!

Time to hit up the trolley so I can go home and rest for few hours.
It was pretty hectic day but I'm happy that I had a good time.
